Business Spotlight

Confetti Counter

This week’s Business Spotlight is Confetti Counter, a new gluten-free bake shop bringing something sweet to downtown Guelph. Located at 3 Wyndham Street, the shop is run by Nikki Edwards, who many locals may know from her previous business, The Baking Professor. Confetti Counter offers gluten-free treats like cookies, muffins, loaves, scones, donuts, coffee and cold drinks, with flavours that rotate over time. What makes it stand out is the story behind it: Edwards started baking after being diagnosed with celiac disease and wanted to create a place where people could pick up a treat without second-guessing whether it was safe for them to enjoy. It’s a fun new downtown stop worth checking out, especially for anyone looking to support a small local business with a personal story behind it. You can check them out on their Instagram here.

Spot of the Week

This week’s Food Spot of the Week is Sugo on Surrey, one of Guelph’s favourite Italian-inspired restaurants tucked inside a charming heritage home at 117 Surrey Street East. Known for its warm service, fresh ingredients and casual fine-dining feel, Sugo is a great pick for anyone looking for a relaxed lunch, patio meal or date-night dinner close to downtown.

The timing is especially good because Sugo recently expanded its lunch service, giving locals another reason to stop by during the day. You can check them out here on their website or here on their Instagram.
