Royal City Brewing Company

Around Guelph This Week

Canada Day closures and waste delays — City Hall, recreation centres, libraries, arenas and museums will be closed July 1. Waste collection will be delayed by one day.

Special Canada Day transit service — Six zone routes and Route 99 will operate across Guelph, with free bus service after 7 p.m.

Dangerous heat could start the week — Guelph could reach 32–33 C on July 1 and 2, with high humidity and possible thunderstorms later in the week.

New outdoor watering rules are in effect — Guelph has replaced its old three-level system with two levels. Under Level 1, lawns can be watered on odd or even dates based on the property’s address.

New U of G residence construction starts July 6 — Initial work begins at 78 College Avenue for a future residence with about 1,250 student beds, bringing additional construction traffic and noise to the area.

City launches plan to address high energy costs — Guelph’s first Energy Equity Action Plan includes energy coaching, expanded home-retrofit support and a possible maximum-temperature bylaw for rentals.
