Hopefully you got to enjoy some of the events last week! Downtown Guelph was absolutely buzzing Saturday morning with the farmers market and the Downtown Guelph Garage sale. It was a beautiful day and was nice to see the community out!

We also officially now have over 7000 Guelphites subscribed to this newsletter, so thank you again for subscribing! If you find this email helpful be sure to talk about it and share it with others in the community! We will continue to work and improve the newsletter and the content we share!

Business Spotlight

Mosquito Man

This week’s Business Spotlight is Mosquito Man, a local mosquito, tick and pest-control service helping Guelph residents take back their yards during the height of summer. With backyard barbecues, patio nights, kids playing outside and pets spending more time outdoors, mosquito and tick prevention is especially relevant right now.

Mosquito Man offers services in Guelph for mosquitoes, ticks, ants, fleas, spiders, wasps and other common pests, with options like barrier sprays, larvicide applications and yard-protection packages. It’s a practical local business to have on your radar this week, especially for anyone trying to make their backyard more comfortable through the rest of the summer.

Spot of the Week

This week’s Food Spot of the Week is Guido’s Grill, a new chip stand serving classic summer comfort food in north Guelph. Located at 705 Speedvale Avenue West, in the parking lot of Gridline Constructors, the stand is run by local couple Logan and Melissa Orobono.

Guido’s Grill is keeping things simple to start, with burgers, hot dogs, sausages, fries and poutine on the menu. It’s a good casual lunch stop for anyone in the northwest end, especially workers in the nearby industrial area or families looking for an easy summer bite. Around Guelph This Week

Baker Street construction continues — Baker Street and Park Lane are closed to through traffic from Quebec Street to Woolwich Street until July 31 for paving tied to the Baker District project.

University Avenue West is closed — University Avenue West is closed between College Avenue and Caledonia Street for water, sewer, road, curb, and sidewalk upgrades.

East Parkade repairs continue downtown — The East Parkade remains open, but some parking areas and ramps may be temporarily closed until July 21.

Several transit detours remain active — Routes including 4 York, 8 Janefield, 9 Waterloo, 99 Mainline and others are still affected by construction-related detours.

New Janefield housing proposal moves ahead — A proposed 275-unit apartment building on Janefield Avenue, including 21 affordable units, completed its City review in just 25 days.

Guelph says it’s preparing for more housing — A new City report says more than 1,300 units were added to Guelph’s housing pipeline in 2025 as the City updates infrastructure and planning tools.
