This week’s Business Spotlight is Three Pieces, a downtown Guelph fashion shop helping put local style in the spotlight. With Guelph Fashion Week happening this weekend, Three Pieces is a timely pick for anyone interested in vintage fashion, sustainable style, local designers or something different from the usual mall shopping. Major housing approvals move ahead — Council approved projects that could add up to 1,726 homes across Guelph, including student apartments and up to 310 units at provincial affordability benchmarks.
Innovation District decision is on hold — Council deferred a key Guelph Innovation District application to get more information on how future housing would fit beside nearby industrial lands.
Hundreds of heritage properties may lose protection — Guelph expects 630 heritage-listed properties to come off the register by the end of 2026 as a provincial deadline approaches.
GO and VIA train disruptions return this weekend — Guelph rail riders should check schedules before travelling Sept. 19–20, with GO and VIA service interruptions tied to Metrolinx work.
A pet aquamation facility is proposed — Fond Farewell wants to open an animal water-cremation facility at 70 Monarch Road, with the application still headed to a future public meeting.
Exhibition Park is getting a new play feature — Work has started on a zipline-style rail rider near the playground, with the park staying open but some short trail closures possible.
