Mosquito Man
This week’s Business Spotlight is Mosquito Man, a local mosquito, tick and pest-control service helping Guelph residents take back their yards during the height of summer. Around Guelph This Week
Civic Holiday closures are coming — City Hall, rec centres, libraries, arenas and museums will be closed on Monday, August 3. Waste collection will be delayed by one day, while Guelph Transit runs on its Civic Holiday/Sunday-style schedule.
Teens ride transit free in August — Youth ages 13 to 17 can ride Guelph Transit for free all month, as long as they have a registered youth OnYourWay fare card.
Firefighters may knock on your door — Guelph Fire is visiting neighbourhoods this summer and fall to talk about smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and home escape plans.
Niska land update — The City says it won’t buy the surplus GRCA land on Niska Road, but is asking for 30% of any sale proceeds to go toward community benefit in Guelph.
Guelph’s infrastructure backlog is now $462M — The City released an updated asset management policy and dashboard showing the condition of roads, sidewalks, bridges, watermains, buildings and parks.
Two playgrounds are being replaced — Severn Drive Park and Woodland Glen Park are getting new playground equipment, with construction expected to continue into the fall.
Free movie night downtown — The City is showing Sing at Market Square on Friday, July 31 at dusk as part of its summer arts and culture programming.
