What’s up in Guelph
April 22nd to April 28th
Hey Guelphites!
Welcome to another edition of What’s up Guelph! We appreciate the feedback that we get from some of the readers in terms of design of the email, if you have any ideas or thoughts for how we can make things better, please reply to the email!
Also – as mentioned in last weeks email, we are on the hunt for a social media expert. I think we are narrowing down to have some focus mostly on helping us share content and grow our social media. If you are interested, or know anyone please reach out! (Yes, it will be paid) and it will likely be part-time or contract!
Thanks!

Business Spotlight
Long Box Silver’s Comics and Collectibles
Tucked right in downtown Guelph, Long Box Silver’s Comics & Collectibles is the kind of shop that instantly pulls you in—even if you haven’t picked up a comic in years. It’s not just shelves of books—it’s nostalgia, storytelling, and a passion project that finally became real.
Owner Craig Schenk opened the shop earlier this year after more than two decades of wanting his own comic store. That energy shows the second you walk in. The space feels curated, not cluttered—whether you’re into classic Marvel runs, indie titles, or just browsing for something unique, there’s something to discover.
What makes this spot worth checking out right now is the timing. With Free Comic Book Day coming up on May 2, the shop is gearing up for one of the biggest days in the comic world. It’s the perfect excuse to pop in, grab something free, and maybe leave with a few unexpected finds.
But even beyond that, this is the kind of place Guelph doesn’t get often anymore—a true specialty shop built by someone who actually cares about the culture. It’s as much for longtime collectors as it is for curious newcomers or parents looking to introduce their kids to something different.
You can check them out here on their website or here on Instagram!
Spot of the Week
For all the coffee lovers and local shop supporters, this week’s spot of the week is Benjamin’s Bodega. This spot is way more than just a café—you’ll find great coffee, fresh baked goods, and a curated selection of products from 80+ small businesses, all under one roof. Benjamin’s has built a strong local vibe with a cozy atmosphere, solid lunch options, and a patio when the weather’s nice. You can check them out on Instagram here or stop by and see what all the hype is about.
